Canon Conclusion

ITDMs are on the cusp of an exciting future. Our research shows that organizations were still in recovery last year, with the repercussions from the tumult of previous years continuing to show through. IT decision makers were working very hard and struggling to find the capacity to focus on innovation. Despite ongoing external pressures and resource issues, ITDMs are feeling optimistic about the coming years and are hoping to use procurement strategically. The data suggests a two-phase approach. In 2023, investments were focused on resolving those hangover challenges – from refining hybrid working to getting better visibility and control of information.

But in the next three years,, ITDMs anticipate entering a new phase, where procurement is focused on adding value through investment in pioneering areas such as AI, sustainability and automation. By investing in these areas of innovation, IT decision makers expect to see benefits for their organization, but also for themselves – heralding future years spent on the more strategic work that offers them true fulfilment.
